Effort & Positive Thinking

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, I am NOT the “tough love coach”.  If you are looking at someone to scream at you and tell you “try harder and be better”, I am probably not for you.  Why? Because I firmly believe positivity, encouragement, resources and support get most people much further. With that, I am not going to sugar coat it for you; the reality is, in order to change something, a certain level of effort is necessary.

For most things worth doing that will create meaningful change for your life, effort is the price of admission. I very much believe in planning, thinking positively and even manifesting the things you want. But the reality is, no amount of desiring something is going to be enough to get it. In order to achieve or gain something worthwhile, one must invest time, energy, and dedication. The good news is, even small changes and small amounts of effort will get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Whether you are pursuing a new career, mastering a skill, maintaining a relationship, or achieving personal goals, it requires action, consistency and a willingness to go the extra mile or maybe just that extra step to keep forward momentum.

When you are having a rough day and don’t want to “do the things it takes”, when you are tired, or feel stuck, I find it helpful to remind myself what it is I really want, and then say out loud “effort is the price of admission”.  It helps to encourage me to embrace the challenges and setbacks and remind me that consistent effort (even small bits) = continuous improvement.
