There is SO much more to working out and training than the physical adaptations we get.
Mental clarity.
More energy.
Feeling strong and confident.
Better sleep.
Socialization and routine.
Community with our gym families.
But if you are feeling like you have not getting the strength gains or changes you had hoped with your training program, or aren’t seeing the results as fast as you’d like, you are going to want to look at a few things:
- Are you doing random workouts? Or are you following a program designed to progressively overload your body to make you strong and build muscle .
- Your intensity and rest when you are training.
- Your recovery.
- Your habits outside the gym (…this is the one no one wants to talk about😆).
Today we are talking about programming. If you are a person who “get’s bored” and like’s a lot of random workouts for “variety” that is aok, but if you aren’t seeing the results you want and aren’t getting stronger the “variety” is why.
Imagine you’re trying to bake a cake, but each time you use a completely different recipe. One day you’re using flour, the next day you’re using rice, the next day oatmeal. You’d end up with a mess instead of a tasty cake, right?
Strength training is kind of like that. Your muscles grow and get stronger when you give them a specific challenge and let them adapt to it. If you’re constantly changing the workout—one day doing heavy weights, the next day focusing on sprints, then doing yoga—you’re giving your muscles too many different messages. They get confused!
To get stronger or build muscle, your body needs consistency. If you stick to a set of exercises and slowly increase the weight or difficulty (like adding more flour to your cake), your muscles know what to expect and grow in response to that steady challenge. When you keep changing things up too much, your body doesn’t get a chance to adapt, and your results stall.
So, variety is great in life, but when it comes to building muscle and getting stronger, sticking to a solid, focused plan is what gets you results!
