What will actually make this year different?

We have a lot of new faces in the gym (sorta weird for a Decemeber, but I LOVE that energy so LFG!) and in my Intro sessions and goal reviews, there has been a lot of talk on what people have done in the past to hit their fitness goals and why it DIDN’T work.

Let me ask you something—honestly:
What is actually going to make this year different for you?

Because if history tells me anything about the folks that come in the door, it’s not that you “don’t want it badly enough.”  You are motivated, you want to change. The problem is most people overcomplicate the plan, Try to change too many behaviors at once or commit to something that looks impressive but is biologically unsustainable for more than 30–60 days. Neuroscience backs this up.

The #1 reason people don’t stay consistent?
Behavior research shows its cognitive overload—asking the brain to manage too many new habits at once. Every decision you add (new workouts, new diet rules, new schedules, new restrictions) increases decision fatigue. When stress hits, the brain defaults to old patterns—not because you’re weak, but because your nervous system is wired for efficiency and safety. What does that mean? More rules = less follow-through, extreme plans = faster burnout, Burnout = NOT doing the thing you need to do.This is why all-or-nothing challenges fail so many people…and ‘yall, ‘Tis the season for the 30 day “New Year Challenge”. I am not poo poo-ing a jump start, or any other program.  But I am here to give you  THE FACTS so you can proceed with caution and set yourself up for success.  I got you 🤘☺️💪❤️.

Now here’s the good part; Studies on habit formation show that automatic behaviors don’t happen overnight. On average, it takes 6–10 weeks of high consistency for a habit to become neurologically “cheap” (aka not requiring constant willpower). The key is not perfection—it’s ~90% consistency.

Not 50%.
Not “when life settles down and I am not as busy” (more on this later!)
But most of the time.

So let’s talk outcomes 30-day challenge:
5–6 workouts/week → fast results, high fatigue, 20-24 workouts in 30 days, high dropout (60–80% fall off…60-80!!!)

3x/week for a year at 90%:
~140 workouts
More strength, better body composition, lower injury risk, and—most importantly—an identity shift from “I’m trying” to “I’m someone who trains.”Not just “I did a program”
But: “I’m someone who trains.”

That identity shift is everything. Because it’s not just about feeling better physically. It’s about what happens mentally when you say:

“I train three times a week.”
“I fuel my body.”
“I don’t overdo it—I focus on what actually matters.”…and then you keep that promise.

You become Unreasonably strong, calm under pressure, consistent even when life gets loud, someone who doesn’t shatter when things go sideways. This is why we focus on 8 weeks at MSC.

Eight weeks is long enough to rewire habits, reduce friction, build confidence through repetition, create results you keep, not just chase.

It’s not punishment.
It’s not chaos disguised as discipline.
It’s setting your nervous system—and your life—up for success.

And yes…
A LOT can change in eight weeks when you stop trying to do everything and start doing the right things consistently. If you’re even a little curious what could shift for you with a few simple, sustainable tweaks—Strong humans aren’t built by accident.
They’re built—one kept promise at a time.Your’s Truly 💁🏻‍♀️
