In Case of Emergency, Break Glass

So here’s a wild thing I realized this week: I’ve been coaching for 13 years, and I’ve owned this tiny-but-mighty Fun Gym for almost 10 (yes, a 10-ski anniversary rager is coming in January, do not worry). After more than 15,000 coaching hours, you’d think I’d be unshockable… but nope. People still amaze me. Every. Single. Week.

Truly—my favorite part of this whole gig is sitting down 1:1 with you all and hearing your dreams, your goals, the stuff you whisper because it feels too big, too badass, too “who do I think I am?” And then getting to look you straight in the face and say, “Yeah, we can do that.”

Over the years I’ve realized MSC has somehow become a magnet for the coolest freaking humans alive. The kind of people who walk in ready to learn, ready to laugh, and ready to try things they once thought were reserved for other people. I love teaching, coaching, giving you the tools. But honestly? The biggest gift in all of this is how much you teach me. I leave conversations buzzing, inspired, and wildly proud of what’s happening inside these four walls.

This week alone—from Strong Start sessions with newbies to habit coaching check-ins to momentum meetings with my OGs  (for non msc’ers, our members chat with myself and my coaches regularly to reset goals, get support and resources, we are helicopter gym parents 😉)—I heard two goals that just stopped me in my tracks. Like… “wait, I need to write this down and tell the whole world my people are legends” level goals.

The first was from a brand-new MSC-er who’s lifted here and there but hasn’t felt confident enough to really go heavy yet. We’re talking, we’re visioning, and she casually drops: “I think it would be cool to be unreasonably strong.”

Unreasonably strong.

I swear to God my soul high-fived itself. Because YES. That’s the energy. Not “kinda strong.”  Not “I guess I’ll try.” But unreasonably strong.

Strong beyond what people expect. Strong beyond what you expected of yourself. Strong enough that your whole life shifts—your confidence, your presence, the way you walk into a room.

Strength doesn’t just change your body; it changes the way you exist in the world. And she said it so simply.  It was perfection and I can not WAIT to see what is in store for her this year!

Then a few days later, in a habit coaching session, one of my 1:1 clients hit me with something I will be thinking about forever. We’re talking through her “why,” and she says:

“I want to be able to take care of myself and my wife in any scenario. I want to be the person who could literally carry someone out of somewhere if I had to. You know— ‘in case of emergency, break glass’— and I’m the one who comes out and handles it.”

Tell me that isn’t the coldest, strongest, most quietly badass mission statement you’ve ever heard.

My immediate internal reaction was: “Put this woman in charge of the world immediately.”

And it hit me: these are the exact people I dreamed of attracting when I opened MSC. People who want more. People who want to feel capable, resilient, unshakeable. People who want to age on their own damn terms—not shrinking, not slowing, but expanding into stronger versions of themselves every single year… and people who want to have a damn good and silly time doing it with a community of build in pals.

This is why we do what we do.
To build strength that lasts.
To create bodies and minds that can weather life.
To make sure we can all still get off the floor and opening pickle jars at 100…
and maybe carrying someone out of a burning building while we’re at it.

I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’ve never felt more certain that MSC is attracting exactly the humans it’s meant to. The ones who don’t just want to work out—they want to become something. Someone powerful, confident, reliable, strong enough to live a long, full life and show up for the people they love.

Getting older isn’t making us weaker.
It’s making us sharper, smarter, tougher, and—if we’re doing this right—
stronger than hell.

Stay unreasonably strong, Crew.
Be the “break glass in case of emergency” Bitch.
